Description

By Bart Tocci and Shannon Sollitt, the BU News Service October 18, 2021 Boston hosted the 125th Boston Marathon last week after a prolonged pause due to COVID-19. The pandemic forced two consecutive cancelations, so the Boston Athletics Association decided this year to host the race in October rather than April. The race also fell on Boston's first-ever recognized "Indigenous People's Day." For some, that was a cause for celebration. For others, the marathon overshadowed a day that should be spent mourning, celebrating, or both, depending on who you speak to. Boston University News Service News Editor Brooke Lewitas spoke to all sorts of people over Marathon weekend and helped edit some of the dozens of Boston Marathon stories. This week on the podcast, Lewitas tells Bart Tocci and Shannon Sollitt how the coverage came together, and what she learned about one of Boston's premier events.
