Press release from the Peninsula School District:
2021-10-18
Dear Peninsula School District Community,
As you may know, today, Monday, Oct. 18, is the deadline for K-12 staff and other state workers to have proof of the COVID-19 vaccine as a condition of employment, unless an exemption has been approved.
In approaching the deadline for this state mandate, we have collaborated with our union leaders about its potential impacts on our workers. We frequently shared information with our staff about the mandate timeline, exemption options, and vaccine clinic information. Our human resources personnel have taken time to individually meet with employees to answer questions and provide guidance regarding the mandate.
I wanted to update you and let you know the vaccine mandate has had minimal impact on our staffing with no impact to our educational services and programs.
Like many businesses in our area and across the country, we are experiencing an unprecedented staffing shortage due to the pandemic. This ongoing situation is mainly impacting our transportation department and pool of substitute workers.
We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Krestin Bahr Superintendent
