SILVER SPRING, MD — New coronavirus case rate data has been released in Silver Spring and Montgomery County in Maryland. As of Saturday, there have been at least 14,905 cases of COVID-19 in Silver Spring since the start of the pandemic, although the number is almost certainly higher, because the Maryland Department of Health only provided numbers for some of the city's ZIP codes. The county case rate continues to be significantly lower than its neighbors. According to the latest data, the county's number of cases per 100,000 residents in the past seven days is 54.2. By contrast, the District of Columbia's rate is 100.6, Prince George's County is 78.3, and Fairfax County in Virginia is 79.2.
