Here are the top stories in Salt Lake City today: Police said a man was arrested after stabbing and killing a dog in a Salt Lake City motel room. They said Daniel Etherington, 46, claimed he acted in self defense when the dog tried to bite him at the Gateway Inn. The dog's owner, who the motel room belonged to, told police Etherington was not supposed to be there. Etherington had reportedly told him twice that he was going to kill his dog. (KUTV 2News) Salt Lake's first community fridge has been put out by the Salt Lake Community Mutual Aid group. It's for people, and families, who might need something to eat. Anybody can pick something up or drop food off. Canned goods work, too, and can be put on shelves in the shed built around the refrigerator. It's located at 1151 N. 1500 West in Salt Lake City.
