Crews Battle Large Apartment Fire In Boulder: Update

BOULDER, CO — Fire crews battled a large apartment fire Tuesday in Boulder. Firefighters arrived in the 2300 block of Pearl Street around 3:40 a.m. to find flames coming from the roof of the building. Around three buildings and 83 apartment units were affected, fire officials said. As of Tuesday afternoon, only minor injuries had been reported, but detectives were still working to account for everyone in the buildings. Smoke filled the neighborhood and people are asked to avoid the area. As of 3 p.m., there was a road closure at the intersection of Pearl and Folsom streets. Several buildings were partially collapsed and unsafe for anyone to enter, fire officials said. The cause of the fire remains unknown as firefighters have been unable to get into the units to investigate. More than 51 firefighters were on scene as of 3 p.m. The Red Cross was helping residents who had been displaced. Those who are impacted are asked to call the agency at 870-440-7499, Boulder police said.
