UNION CITY, CA — A caring neighbor, and well-trained and equipped firefighters, saved the day for a dog trapped in a burning apartment. Around 8 a.m. Monday firefighters arrived at the burning apartment building in Union City. A neighbor told the firefighters that the woman who lived in the apartment was at work, but her dog was home. Firefighters saved the dog, and gave it oxygen from a doggie-sized mask. Meanwhile, firefighters put out the fire, preventing it from spreading to other apartments. According to the Alameda County Fire Department, the Red Cross is helping the displaced resident and her dog. The fire on Aurora Plaza was held to a single alarm. At 7:53 AM, Batt 7 units were dispatched to calls of smoke at a two-story apartment complex in Union City on Aurora Plz. The response was upgraded to a confirmed structure fire and additional units were dispatched to fill out a first alarm. Crews were informed by a neighbor… pic.twitter.com/dd7p9c3bBk— Alameda County Fire (@AlamedaCoFire) October 18, 2021
