By John Gibson, WNIN Oct. 19, 2021 A house fire has displaced an Evansville family. Firefighters were dispatched to the home at 1516 S. Weinbach Ave. just after 9:00 Sunday morning. In a release, EFD Division Chief Mike Larson said a resident – who was the only one home at the time -- was awakened by the smell of smoke, got out of the house, and alerted a neighbor who called 911. Larson said firefighters arrived extinguished the blaze in about 10 minutes. He said it was an accidental fire that started in a basement bedroom. Larson said the occupants -- two adults and three children -- are temporarily displaced until repairs can be made. The American Red Cross was contacted to help the family. No one was injured.
