ORLAND TOWNSHIP, IL — Looking to shred? The Orland Township Highway Department is hosting a shred and food drive event on Saturday for anyone in the area to let it rip.
The event aims to help residents protect themselves from identity theft. Attendees can bring a limit of four banker boxes per vehicle, and shredding will be accepted until a capacity is reached.
"I am excited to offer the residents of Orland Township a safe and secure way to dispose of old and unwanted documents, prescription drugs and electronics," said Highway Commissioner Antonio Rubino. "I also encourage residents to bring one nonperishable food item to be donated to the Orland Township Food Pantry."
The first 20 TVs are free to turn over. There is also a food drive where attendees are asked to bring one nonperishable food item to be donated to the Orland Township Food Pantry.
Prescription drugs will also be collected for those who have unused or expired medications at home. Safe medical disposal will be on-site.
The event is for Orland Township and Tinley Park residents only. It will be held at Grissom Middle School located at 17000 S. 80th Ave., Tinley Park.
