CHATHAM, NJ — Chatham Borough reported that during the first two weeks of October, there were 18 residents who tested positive for COVID-19. The borough issued two news releases about the coronavirus statistics on Tuesday, providing figures through Oct. 14. During the first week of October, 12 residents came up positive, with two under the age of 11, one between the ages of 12 and 20 and 10 who were 21 and up. Between Oct. 8 and 14, there were six residents who had tested positive, with all of them over 21, their age range between 36 to 47 years, according to the borough's report. During the month of September, the borough had reported that there were 28 residents in total who tested positive for coronavirus, with 13 who had taken their full course of the COVID vaccines, as well as one COVID-19 fatality early in the month. Through 2021, there have been 395 total coronavirus cases in Chatham Borough, with 640 total cases since the pandemic start in March 2020. The mean age of those testing positive is 36. The total number of hospitalizations from Chatham Borough since the pandemic start is 14 and number of deaths is 11. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the age range of all those who have tested positive from Chatham Borough, is as follows: Age Range* (start-to-date): No age - 5 cases 1-11 - 49 cases 12-19 - 128 cases 20-30 - 102 cases 31-40 - 75 cases 41-50 - 112 cases 51-60 - 103 cases 61-70 - 31 cases 71-80 - 20 cases 81-90 - 10 cases 91+ - 5 cases Chatham Borough officials continue to encourage residents and business owners to wear masks when they feel it's necessary to, wash their hands or use hand sanitizers frequently, to clean high touch surfaces often and to stay home if feeling sick.
