Description

By: Nina Garza and Mel Ochal, BDTV228 Sports Multimedia Interns The Oak Forest High School Girls Tennis team recently held a 10-1 record, then a 12-1 record, and now they have three IHSA State Qualifying Athletes. At one point, the team had even shut out 7 of the 10 games they played. Meaning, the team played five matches (2 singles, 3 doubles) and they won all five of the matches. The Bengals recently competed at IHSA Sectionals on October 15th and October 16th. They lost by one point to qualify as an IHSA State Team to Chicago Christian High School. However, while the team just missed the opportunity to qualify, three of their athletes still managed to score a spot in the State Tournament which will take place the weekend of October 21 - October 23. Congratulations to Erin Speaker and Téa Graham who are South Suburban Conference Champions, IHSA Sectional Finalists, and IHSA State Qualifiers. Congratulations also to Sabrina Sifuentez who is a State Qualifier after upsetting the #2 Seed. She also came in 3rd place at IHSA Sectionals this year. "My past two years I have been undefeated," said Sifuentez. "I won Conference my Freshman year at JV for singles. And so I'm kind of hoping this year to keep that momentum up."
