PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Phoenixville Area School District's Board of Directors has 30 days to fill the vacated seat of Laura Reed, who resign on Monday night. The PASD Board of School Directors accepted the resignation of Board member Laura Reed in its Oct. 18 meeting. If the Board does not fill the vacancy within 30 days, the Chester County Court of Common Pleas may step in and appoint a new member, the School District explained. The Board of School Directors of the Phoenixville Area School District is calling for applicants to fill the open Board seat. The successful applicant will fill the remaining term, which runs through the first Monday of December 2023. To qualify for service on the School Board, a person must be a citizen of Pennsylvania, be of good moral character, be at least 18 years of age and be a resident of the School District for at least one year. PASD said in a statement on Tuesday that anyone who would like to be considered should submit a letter of interest to PASD Superintendent, Dr. Alan Fegley. The letter of interest must be received by the Superintendent no later than 3 p.m. Nov. 5. Late submissions, including those sent by mail, but received after this date and time, will not be considered. The School Board will conduct public interviews on Nov. 15. From those interviews, nominations will be made at the Nov. 15 Board workshop meeting. A vote will be taken and the new Board member will be sworn in and seated, the District explained. Make sure you know what's happening in your town.
