MONROVIA, CA — The Monrovia Police Department announced Tuesday it was looking for residents to apply to its Citizens on Patrol program.
Members of the program will help the department by "providing critical help in the areas of traffic control during traffic accidents, vacation checks in residential neighborhoods, vehicle impounds and many other duties," the department said in a Facebook post.
To qualify for Citizens on Patrol, volunteers must be:
Retired Have a valid driver's license and a good driving record Be able to work collaboratively with police personnel and within a chain of command. Wear a uniform according to department guidelines. Pass a background check, which involves interviews with family, friends and neighbors. Anyone interested in the program can contact the police department's Community Policing Bureau at 626-256-8036.
