COUNTRYSIDE, IL — A Countryside man was sentenced to 21 years in prison for dealing heroin in various places in Cook and DuPage counties, authorities said Tuesday. Joseph Hall, 39, was sentenced to the felonies of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. In November, Hall arranged for the sale of 2 grams of heroin and a fentanyl blend to an undercover officer with the DuPage County Metropolitan Enforcement Group at various locations, police said. A month later, officers from the DuPage County agency and state police carried out a search warrant at Hall's Countryside home and found more than 15 grams of heroin, cocaine and other drugs that Hall intended to sell, according to a news release from the attorney general's office. At the time of the search, Hall was on parole for a 2014 felony conviction for possession of a stolen firearm, according to the release. "Heroin and fentanyl destroy lives and communities, and I am committed to holding accountable those who attempt to profit from addiction to these substances," Attorney General Kwame Raoul said in the news release.
