Dublin Scary Art Show Opens in National Arts and Humanities month

Costume clad guests arrived at the Opening Reception for the Scary Art Show held at the F.CO.Gallery on Thursday night. Special Guests were Dublin's Mayor Melissa Hernandez, Chamber of Commerce CEO Inge Houston and CEO of Visit Tri-Valley Tracy Farhad who were judges for the Costume Contest. Winner of the costume contest James Morehead with Dublin Mayor Melissa Hernandez Also in attendance was Richard Petersen, President and CEO of the US Cultural and Heritage Marketing Council who will be a guest speaker at a regional arts meeting next year. Sawsan Wolski, owner of the F.CO. Art Gallery and curator for the show said the aim was to allow artists to express their innermost fears and fearful thoughts as the community continues to adjust to the changes of the past two years. Fear, loss and uncertainty have been core themes for many and this show allowed artists to express their perspectives and guests to connect with the pieces that resonated with them. Phil Didlake from Drum Innovation on drums Original Pan drumming compositions by Phil Didlake from Drum Innovation created the ideal musical backdrop for this fun creative event. The juried show included artwork by 21 artists including Susan Mullen, Sarah Lee, Jennifer Huber, Jeff Salinas, May Yin Giang, Buffy Davis, Magdelana Bertera, Alka Vaidya, Tejal Shah, Ekaterina Bazlakova, Monique Makepeace, Bette Thomas Barnes, Sawsan Wolski, Vanessa Thomas, Divya Chandrasekaran, Anubhuti Desai, Madeleine Collins, Donna Shoji Berry, Robert Mann, Karen Scott and Chris Tafoya. Richard Peterson, President and CEO of the US Cultural and Heritage Marketing Council with artists Magdelena Betera and May Yin Giang The show also including a display of the Scary Poetry Contest Winners which were chosen by Dublin Poet Laureate James Morehead from over 50 entries. Dublin Poet Laureate, James Morehead with the Winning Scary Poems The Scary Art Show will be available to view at 7038 Village Parkway from 11am to 5pm Tuesday to Thursday and from 11am to 2pm on Saturdays until Oct 30. Visitors to the show are invited to vote for their favorite scary artwork to choose the show People's Choice winner.
