CALABASAS, CA — The City of Calabasas will host a COVID-19 booster clinic on Oct. 23 at Founders Hall.
The clinic will offer booster shots of both the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Residents can register themselves and one other person for the clinic using this link.
81.4% of Calabasas residents age 12 and older have received at least their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Los Angeles County Public Health department.
The Pfizer vaccine is the only vaccine currently being recommended by the Center for Disease Control for specific people, including those at an increased risk of exposure due to their living, working or underlying health conditions, according to the CDC.
That being said, the CDC is moving closer to giving the Johnson & Johnson and Moderna vaccine boosters emergency authorization for individuals over 40 and younger people based on their risk of exposure, according to CNN.
The US Food and Drug Administration plan to allow people to "mix-and-match" different vaccines for the booster shot, CNN reported, meaning Americans can get any of the three booster shots regardless of which vaccine they received initially.
