DEARBORN, MI — A Dearborn doctor was appointed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to the Michigan Athletic Trainers Board on Friday. Abedelrahim Asfour, M.D., of Dearborn is a cardiologist, who also also serves as the vice chief of staff at Beaumont Hospital Trenton. He attended medical school at the University of Jordan. Asfour will represent physicians licensed under part 170 or 175 of the Public Health Code until his term expires on June 30, 2025. Live in Dearborn? The Michigan Board of Athletic Trainers consists of 11 voting members: 6 athletic trainers, 2 physicians and 3 public members. The board works with the departments to oversee the practice of approximately 1,028 athletic trainers.
