AQUEBOGUE, NY — A man has been arrested and charged with arson after an explosion at an Aquebogue marina in September, police said. According to Riverhead Town Police, the "suspicious explosion" took place on Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. at Larry's Lighthouse Marina on Meeting House Creek Road. Riverhead detectives, along with the Suffolk County Police Department's arson squad, determined that someone had detonated an explosive device, damaging the side of a building. Bryan Henry, 44, of Manorville, was arrested Tuesday and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth-degree arson, and fourth-degree criminal mischief, police said. A subsequent search warrant executed at Henry's home by detectives — with the help of Suffolk County Police's arson squad and emergency services bomb technicians — led to the recovery of additional incendiary and bomb-making material, Riverhead police said. So far, it appears that the explosion was not a "terroristic act," and that the marina was likely not the intended target, but the investigation is ongoing, police said.
