Hey, people of Atlanta! Kathy Cioffi here with today's edition of the Atlanta Daily. First, today's weather: Partly sunny and pleasant. High: 78 Low: 59. Here are the top stories today in Atlanta: An arrest has been made in the death of a woman seen falling from a moving Lamborghini in Buckhead. Alfred Megbuluba , 31, surrendered Monday, according to Atlanta police, who believe he was driving a Lamborghini Oct. 10 when he got into a fight with a woman later identified as 28-year-old Catherine Khan. She was either thrown out or pushed from the vehicle at the intersections of Peachtree and Piedmont roads, according to witnesses, and died from her injuries. Megbuluba has been charged with felony murder, theft by taking, financial transaction card fraud, and financial transaction card theft. According to a tweet released by Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms Monday, investigators are traveling with "evidence from the Missing and Murdered children cases" to a crime lab in Salt Lake City that works with old DNA evidence. "It is my sincere hope that there will be concrete answers for the families," she wrote. Between 1979 and 1981, more than 20 Black children and teenagers went missing from the Atlanta area and were found dead. While Wayne Williams, then 23, has long been considered the prime suspect in the murders, he was never convicted of any child's death. Instead, he was convicted in 1982 of the murders of two adults and sentenced to two life terms. (Atlanta Patch)The Atlanta Braves had a 2-0 lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers going into Game 3 of the National League Championship Series Tuesday night in Los Angeles. The Dodgers were five outs away from being down 3 games to 0 when Cody Bellinger's three-run homer in the eighth inning tied the game. Then Mookie Betts knocked in the game-winner, handing a 6-5 loss to the Braves. Atlanta still leads the best-of-seven series 2 games to 1. Game 4 is tonight at 8:08 p.m. (USAtoday.com)A rental vehicle left running with $20,000 worth of property inside was stolen from outside the lobby at Marriott Suites Atlanta Midtown Friday, according to Atlanta Police. The thief was on a Bird scooter before jumping into the vehicle, police said. A valet worker unsuccessfully attempted to stop the suspect, who made off with camera equipment, two laptops, an iPad, two phones and a wallet worth about $20,000, according to the victims. (CBS46 News Atlanta)Atlanta could be creating a "Night Mayor" position, a first for the city. A resolution passed Monday by the City Council calls for a feasibility study into launching a new "Office of Nighttime Economy and Safety" charged with advising leaders on issues regarding life, business and public safety in the city during overnight hours. If the proposed legislation is approved, Atlanta would become one of several national and international cities with night mayors, including New York, Detroit, Washington D.C., Seattle, Orlando, London and Amsterdam.
