FIV+ Cat desperately needs a home

Description

Libby was left behind in a house with 5 other cats after their owner died. They were neglected while the owner was alive, probably due to the owner's age and health issues. Two of the six cats are in foster/adoptive homes but the other four including Libby were left in the house. The landlord had all the furniture and belongings removed from the house so the cats didn't even have a pet bed to sleep on. All they had were walls and bare floors. My friend who does cat rescues every day, got them out of the house and currently all four are in her garage. Libby is the only one who tested positive for FIV. My friend tried Catty Shack and Miss Kitty's but they won't take her. She doesn't want to bring her to YHS because she's observed that the cats sit in cages for months and months. She would rather euthanize the cat than put her in that situation. She has stated that if she can't find a home for Libby, she will have her put to sleep. So I am desperately trying to find a home for her. Cats with FIV can live pretty normal lives. It's not super contagious and is really only spread from one cat to another through fighting, so if the cats get along, the FIV will likely not spread. And since Libby seems healthy and has only had the single test which was positive, it's possible she doesn't even have FIV and may have simply been vaccinated against it or acquired antibodies from her mother before she was born-- both of which would cause her to test positive for FIV. It's also possible that her test result was a false positive. Also important to note is that none of the other cats tested positive, and she was living with them for years. Libby is a female, who we think is spayed already, and she is estimated to be 3 to 5 years old. She's in danger of being euthanized due to her FIV status. PLEASE if you can adopt her or foster her or if you know of someone who could, please let me know.
