The Parks and Facilities Department at Wells Branch Municipal Utility District (MUD) has an immediate opening for an experienced, full-time Irrigation Technician/Parks Employee position! This person will primarily be utilized in the troubleshooting of irrigation systems, completing system tests, and performing a variety of repairs. While the position will have a general focus on irrigation, it will also consist of other general duties consistent to the daily operation of outdoor public park areas and District-owned recreation facilities. This position reports to the Parks and Facilities Superintendent. Qualifications: • High school diploma or GED recommended. • A minimum of 2 years professional experience working with irrigation system maintenance, programming, troubleshooting and repairs. • Knowledge and experience programming irrigation controls. Knowledge of smart irrigation controllers preferred. • Experience operating various pieces of equipment, such as skid steer, ATV, and various small engine lawn equipment, and various hand power tools. • Understanding of the importance of plant health and water conservation. • Additional proven skills in any of the following is preferred: minor vehicle mechanics, masonry, electrical, general construction, plumbing and basic welding. • Must be able to read, write, and fluently speak English. • Must have proficient smart phone skills. • Valid driver’s license. • Must pass a drug screen and background screening, including previous employment, criminal history, and driving record verification. Hours: Monday – Friday 7:30am – 4:30pm Overtime will be necessary when on-call and based on project and departmental needs, and may include evenings, holidays and weekends.
