I worked on the front line at a high end hotel and several years ago I had a chance encounter with Colin Powell before he was to give a presentation to a powerful group of guest. As our paths crossed, he struck up a conversation with me asked how I was doing then with a big smile told me some little joke and then slapped me across the back! He was surrounded by important people but still made the time to interact with me! He came off as a down to earth person who never forgot his humble upbringings. I never forgot that day Colin was the real deal.
