Description

The shop assistant is responsible assisting with repairs, maintenance and refitting vessels. Each vessel’s needs require the ability to change gears at the drop of a hat. A focused shop assistant needs to be able to follow instructions, ask for help when they need it, and be willing to learn new things each day. The level of professionalism displayed by shop assistant directly reflects an image of the company to the company’s clients. Scope of Responsibilities: • Maintain a high level of professionalism; represent the company in a professional manner at all times • Provide a high level of customer service to all customers and vendors • Maintain high productivity without sacrificing quality • Provide a high level of Quality Control • Operate in a safe manner • Support a strong commitment to world class customer service. • Interior or exterior cleaning of vessel after your work is completed. • Lay down protection on vessels to prevent damage to vessel. • Inspect product’s overall condition so it will be acceptable to the customer. • Inform manager of any required repairs on vessels. • Ability to evaluate problems and issues found during a project and clearly communicate issues with management. • Handle multiple work orders and utilize worklist to show parts or vendor issues • Actively work with management to perform all tasks needed to run the business. • Be able to work independently or with a team. • Perform shop maintenance as required. • Keep work areas neat and clean. Empty shop garbage & recycling each night. • Follow all Company Policies and Procedures. • Perform other duties, assignments and responsibilities as needed. • Strong time management skills. • Inform manager of any required repairs on vessels • Be ready and accept other assignments as time and need require Supervisory Responsibilities • None Required Skills: • Basic construction knowledge • Basic knowledge of boats • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills • Willing to learn Work Environment: • Exposed to a combination of office and shop environments. • Must have good mobility and dexterity and be able to stand or sit for long periods of time in a shop environment. • Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise. • Must be able to climb stairs. • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift objects of up to 50 lbs. • May be required to move from location to location or travel between locations depending upon the need of the company at any given time • Ability to work in non-air-conditioned environment • Ability to work outside in inclement weather and in limited spaces
