The following is an exert from the Congressional Record of January 10, 1963 and is an extension of remarks of the Honorable A.S. Herlong Jr. of Florida as reported by, Mrs. Pat Norman, editor of the Deland Courier news paper in Deland, Florida. Mrs. Norman identifies this as a quote from "The Necked Communist" by Cleon Skousen. Current Communist Goals 1. U.S. must except coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war 2. Develop the illusion that total disarmament by the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength. 3. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war. 4. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination. 5. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the United Nations. 6. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party. 7. Do away with all loyalty oaths. 8. Continue giving hostile governments access to the U.S. Patent Office. 9. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States. 10. Use technical decisions by the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming there activities violate civil rights. 11. Get control of the schools, use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers associations. (unions) Install Communist party lines into text books. 12. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book review assignments, editorial writing and policy making decisions. 13. Gain control of key positions in radio, T.V. and motion pictures. 14. Eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings. Substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless art. 15. Eliminate all laws governing obesity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press. 16. Break down cultural standards of morality by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press. 17. Present Homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as normal, natural and healthy. 18. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with social religion. Discredit the Bible. 19. Eliminate any prayer or form of expression in schools, on the grounds that it violates the principle of separation of church and state. Separation of church and state is not in the Constitution. 20. Discredit the Constitution by call it inadequate, old fashioned and out of step with modern needs. 21. Discredit the founding fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats. 22. Discredit all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history. 23. Support any movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture, education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc. 25. Eliminate all laws that hamper the operation of the Communist agenda. 26. Discredit and dismantle the F.B.I. 27. Infiltrate the unions. 28. Infiltrate and gain control of big business. 29. Transfer some powers of the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as mental disorders. 30. Dominate the Psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of controlling the opposition of Communist goals. 31. Discredit the family as an institution. 32. Emphasize the raising of children away from the negative influence of parents. 33. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of American tradition. 34. Internationalize the Panama Canal. 36. Give the World Court jurisdiction over nations and individuals alike. Do you understand what is going on? I hope so.
