Description
Sound Native Plants is looking for crew members to join our Portland area team in support of native ecosystem restoration and stormwater facility maintenance. Field Technicians will work in small teams performing native plant installation, vegetation maintenance in stormwater swales and planters, herbicide treatments, brush cutting, chainsaw work, and a wide variety of other restoration and maintenance activities.
Desired Qualifications:
• Ecological restoration, landscaping, or horticulture experience a plus
• Ability to learn and identify native plants and invasive weeds
• Strong preference given to candidates with backgrounds in planting, plant ID, herbicide application, data collection, and outdoor manual labor
• Commercial pesticide applicator license (agriculture-herbicide, ornamental & turf-herbicide, and/or aquatic) a plus
Required Qualifications:
• Be able to carry out strenuous physical labor in all weather conditions
• Maintain physical fitness level to perform job tasks, including but not limited to lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, crouching, bending, standing, and hiking off-trail for 8-10 hours a day over steep, rough, and slippery terrain
• Proficient, safe, proper use of equipment and power tools
• Reliable transportation to meet at pickup or site locations
Starting rate is $16.50/hr plus 1 hour of paid time off accrued per 20 hours worked. Position is full-time, with part-time considered depending on your availability.
