A service-learning Patapsco River shoreline cleanup adventure in kayaks and canoes for high school students in and around Balitmore City.
Join Parks & People and the Baltimore City Department of Recreation & Parks in a cleanup of rain leftovers from the beautiful shoreline at Middle Branches Park.
Who can come?
This event is open to all high-school students in the Baltimore area.
Why should I come?
All participants will gain boating, get to see Baltimore from the waterfront, and contribute to making the city a more beautiful place to live.
Students who participate will receive service-learning hours. Those who attend multiple events will also receive priority placement in the Parks & People Summer Jobs Program! It is also a great volunteer opportunity to include on your resume.
Snacks and water will be provided.
What will I be doing?
Canoeing or kayaking while picking up trash and other debris from the water.
What should I wear/bring? Is anything provided?
Wear a mask, closed-toed shoes, sunglasses, pants, a coat, a hat, sunscreen, & bug spray
Bring a water bottle.
We will provide drinking water, snacks, and hand sanitizer.
Baltimore City Recreation & Parks will provide boats, paddles, and a personal flotation device, an orientation, paddling instructions, and launching.
Cancellations
We will notify you if bad weather and/or unsafe conditions require us to cancel.
COVID-19 Safety Procedures
All participants will be required to wear proper personal protective equipment aligning with Baltimore City Regulations and are expected to maintain physical distancing throughout the event.
