Description
"People may divorce from their marriage, but they never divorce as parents." "People may divorce from their marriage, but they never divorce as parents."This advanced mediation training will equip and qualify mediators to specifically handle divorce and custody cases, especially those involving children. Ultimately the goal is to resolve permanently as many issues as both parties are willing to address, not just settle them monetarily or objectively. IA’s process is to offer and attempt reconciliation first. If that becomes an impossibility then we facilitate divorce and custody mediation. Divorce and custody mediation (DC) allows people to have an optional stage to attempt reconciliation of the marriage if either or both people are ambivalent about going forward with divorce. Even if marriages can’t be saved, people come to some closure, feeling they have tried all there is to try and have decided to end it together rather than one person making the decision for both of them. This course also recognizes that parents in their own pain can forget the experience of their children and provides the skills necessary to help parents understand the complete effects of divorce on a family. You can help people minimize the pain to some extent by giving them a process in which they can work together to prepare and spare the family from the war and destruction that occurs from escalation of conflict. Help couples decide property, custody, visitation schedules, parenting norms, discipline plans for separate households and how new relationships will enter and function in their children’s lives. Don't let it go to litigation or arbitration if you can resolve it in mediation.
