Description

Welcome to RECONVENE Sessions, a new series covering what's new, what's next, and what matters for independent event creators. Nonprofits and 501(c)(3) Events For GrowthRECONVENE Sessions returns with a special focus on nonprofits and 501(c)(3) organizations. Multidisciplinary arts and culture space Pioneer Works, theater advocates Opening Act, and the Jewish Food Society will share insight and inspiration with you and a crowd of fellow event creators, so you can come away equipped with community-oriented strategies to drive growth and awareness for your organization and mission. This time around, we're gathering in-person at Project Farmhouse, a sustainability center and event space led by environmental community leaders GrowNYC, located just minutes from Union Square in Manhattan. Please note: In accordance with New York City's 'Key To NYC' mandate, all attendees must present proof of vaccination against COVID-19. Who You'll Hear From Brooklyn arts-science-culture center Pioneer Works features an array of programming all under one roof: live music, classes, art shows, cuisine, conversations, and beyond. Christina Daniels, Head of Residencies and Classes, will illustrate why diversity of events is integral to Pioneer Works' unique identity, allowing them to stand out amongst their peers. Opening Act provides some of New York City's most underprivileged students, often students of color, with free, year-round access to after-school theater programs. Zareta Ricks, Executive Director, will share with us why joy is a crucial element of civic work — and how to harness that joy when producing events. The Jewish Food Society works to preserve Jewish tradition and history through food, connecting heritage with present-day experience. Program Director Amanda Dell will lead a case study on repurposing content, detailing how the Jewish Food Society pivoted towards podcasting by harnessing material captured during their live events.
