Description
Participants will discuss challenges associated with reporting abuse and neglect, practice asking minimal facts questions, and receive resources that will help them with knowing how and when to report.
Participants will be able to:
Define child abuse and neglectIdentify who must report child abuse and neglectPractice the questions they should ask children before making a reportBecome familiar with the roles and responsibilities of child protective services, law enforcement and child advocacy centers in protecting childrenAppreciate that child abuse reporting can be a sensitive and stressful experience for reportersTarget Audience
School personnel, childcare providers, medical and mental health professionals, youth serving organizations, CASA volunteers, foster parents, service providers, general public, and church leaders.
The Child Advocacy Center is a non-profit organization providing a safe, child friendly location to conducting forensic interviews and medical evaluations for children in Southeast Nebraska who have experienced child abuse or neglect. The Child Advocacy Center also provides a variety supporitive services to children, families and the community including child advocacy, prevention training and special events.
