PLEASE READ THE DETAILS OF THIS FIELD TRIP CAREFULLY. EACH FIELD TRIP HAS UNIQUE GUIDELINES FOR AGES, NUMBER OF CHAPERONES, ETC. NO REFUNDS! This field trip is for Heartland Charter School students and their families. HST, Michael Phares, will lead this walk and talk about the coastal ecosystem. Families will be learning about the tides, swells and waves. It will be a sweet time for students of all ages to bundle up, get some exercise, learn a small portion about how the amazing and vast aquatic phenomenon known as the Pacific Ocean interfaces with our coast, and explore what this unique ecosystem means to those who live nearby and love to play in and near it.We encourage families to turn in a sample that is linked to the field trip that you attended during your next learning period. It helps to ensure that we can continue to provide these trips and their educational value. Heartland field trips are designed for families to attend together. Students need to be accompanied by an adult chaperone. If your student will be attending with another family please indicate this when you register your student and let the field trip host know once you complete your registration. Any student that is registered without a chaperone will have their reservation canceled unless the family reaches out to the field trip lead and lets them know which registered chaperone will be responsible for their student. This field trip is free but each person attending needs a ticket. **To ensure the health and safety of all attendees, please do not attend a field trip if you, your student(s), or anyone in your household is ill or showing possible signs of illness.**Does this trip have any height, weight, and/or age restrictions? No, all ages are welcome. What are the check-in procedures? We will plan to begin our Beach Walk & Talk at 10am. Please arrive about 5-10 minutes early to ensure you are checked in. Please check in with Michael Phares (Heartland HST coordinating the event and leading the walk/talk) Is there on-site parking available? Park in any spot you are able to park in within the lot next to Finn’s Restaurant and the Grover Beach Dunes entrance Can we pack snacks or lunch for this event or field trip? Yes, as long as they properly dispose of any and all waste in county/city provided waste receptacles Please do not bring food that contains peanuts to any Heartland event.
