Halloween is approaching! Join us for an early trick or treat walk on Mount Diablo We'll have a chance to meet the famous 8-legged diva, Scarlett O'Harry (a tarantula), before we stroll up Mitchell Canyon in search of the crepuscular creatures that call Mount Diablo home. Note: this outing is in-person. We're excited to see you on the trail! TOTAL DISTANCE This is an easy hike of two miles roundtrip with little elevation change. LEADERS Liz Watson, Ken Lavin, and Leslie Contreras. WEATHER POLICY Rain cancels. COST $6 per vehicle park entrance fee (exact cash required). WHERE TO MEET We'll assemble near the Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center. NOTES Bring water, snacks, dress in layers, wear good hiking shoes, and bring a flashlight. If not, please plan to wear your mask for the duration of this outing. ABOUT THE LEADERS Liz Watson is a special education teacher for Contra Costa County. She currently teaches at Liberty High School in Brentwood. Liz holds a California naturalist certification from UC Davis extension and volunteers at the Lindsay Wildlife Rehabilitation Hospital in Walnut Creek Ken Lavin is the outings coordinator for Greenbelt Alliance.
