Description

This will be our ninth event for 2021. This would be a great time to learn how to paddle a kayak and fish from a kayak. We are still following CDC Guidelines. Participation for the Lowcountry SC HOW Events will be limited to 17 individuals: five (5) volunteers, six (6) participates with their own kayak / fishing gear and six (6) participates without a kayak / fishing gear. So please use Eventbrite to reserve your slot as a volunteer or participate. Eventbrite signups will be emailed to past Volunteers and Participates roughly a month prior to the event. If you have not volunteered or participated please send an email to Darrell Olson at [email protected] so that he can enter you into the Eventbrite notification system. We will be requiring all volunteers and participates to wear mask when you are within 6 feet of others. If you opt to use a fishing buff of some sort this will be acceptable but we will ask that you use it in a fashion that it is doubled over the nose and mouth. We will not be serving lunch as in the past during this time. However we do encourage you to bring your own sacks. We will provide bottles of water as in the past for your consumption. We will ask that you will not attend an event if you show any symptoms. We will ask that you will not attend an event if you have been caring for someone who is ill. You will sign all appropriate documents and commit to participating in our events in a safe way. You can start off to sign this document here. The mission of Heroes on the Water is to help Veterans and those still serving in the Military relax, rehabilitate and reintegrate into society through kayak fishing and the outdoors. Since the start of the Lowcountry SC HOW Chapter we have taken our heroes out kayak fishing, we have learned firsthand the ‘triple therapy’ of kayak fishing – physical with paddling and fishing, occupational in learning new skills and a sport they can do for life, and mental in the relaxation and freedom out on the water. The Lowcountry SC Heroes on the Water (HOW) Chapter invites veterans, active duty military and first responders to a day of kayak fishing. We will be fishing the Brickyard Creek and launching from the Brickyard Creek Boat Landing. The address for the ramp is 474 Brickyard Point Road North, Beaufort, SC 29907. This event will start our kick-off for collecting toys for the Marines Toys for Tots Foundation. Please bring a toy to be donated for this great cause. Note that this is not a requirement to participate but a way for us to help out our military families. Join us for our last event of the year as we paddle, fish, heal. For a fun filled morning of fishing searching for some Gator Speckled Trout, Redfish, Flounder or whatever will give a tug. No experience or equipment necessary, Lowcountry SC HOW Chapter will provide everything needed to get our heroes out on the water. Contact us at [email protected] for more information about upcoming events or to reserve a kayak for this event! Lowcountry SC HOW Chapter request that all Volunteers and Participates to sign up for the events through Eventbrite as for number of kayaks & equipment needed. LKA HOW Coordinator
