Natick Political Lines Shifting: See New Precinct Proposals

NATICK, MA — Following the release of 2020 U.S. Census figures this summer, Natick town officials are beginning the process of redrawing the town's voting precincts. Under state law, the Natick Town Clerk must divide the town in voting precincts with about 4,000 people each — or within about 5 percent of that number. Resident won't see too much of a difference between the current and proposed precincts, with a few exceptions. For example, the far northeaster corner of Precinct 8 will move slightly west of Pearl Street. And Precinct 7 will would dip below Route 135 into Precinct 9 along Pond Street. On Wednesday, Natick officials will hold a public hearing on the proposed new precincts. Residents can visit Town Hall between 4 and 6 p.m. for the event. After the meeting, the Select Board is tentatively scheduled to approve the new boundaries on Oct. 27. (The release of Census population figures were delayed in 2021 due to the pandemic.
