Medfield Warrant Committee Shares Website... The Medfield Warrant Committee is pleased to share their comprehensive website regarding the new school project: http://town.medfield.net/2010/School-Project-Subcommittee This past summer, the Medfield Warrant Committee (WC) established a School Project Subcommittee to fulfill its responsibility per the Town Charter to "inform residents of the Town of its proposed recommendations and to hear testimony and argument before publication of its final recommendations" relayed Warrant Committee chairperson, Sharon Tatro. It is the Warrant Committees responsibility, as an impartial body, to evaluate all aspects of the school project. The special town meeting presentations are limited in time and cannot give the full scope of all documents and studies during the 2.5 year process of the School Building Committee. Ms. Tatro stated that "the objective of our two month process was to review, gather, evaluate and analyze facts pertaining to the upcoming warrant article". The School Project Subcommittee began with interviews and gathering questions from five of the constituent groups: School Building Committee, School Committee, Board of Selectmen, and municipal ballot question coalitions (For Our Kids, For Our Town and Dale at Dale). Then topic focused meetings, as a result of questions submitted, were held on repurposing of the Dale Street School, educational programming outcome with teachers and staff, and the impact on Medfield's water supply. Ms. Tatro also said that "the committee wants residents coming to the Special Town meeting to have all the information they need to make an informed vote and the past few weeks have been about ensuring everyone has access to the information they need." The Warrant Committee solicited questions from the Medfield community and created a 74 page document citing questions and answers. They also held a meeting on October 14, 2021, reviewing their analysis as a result of the questions which focused on a full cost analysis and comparison of other options as well as one on the traffic, sidewalk and busing issues. The presentations and video replay of the meeting are all available on the committee website. Each of the nine members of the Warrant Committee, who have been appointed by the Town Moderator, must vote whether or not to recommend passage or dismissal of the article that will be presented at the Special Town Meeting on Sunday, November 7th at noon at Medfield High School. Members of the Warrant Committee will vote on whether or not to recommend passage or dismissal of the article at their November 2nd meeting. On October 26th at 7pm, there will be a Warrant Committee Hearing where citizens who have not yet come before the Warrant Committee in the past two months are invited to speak first. To access the zoom link for the meetings go to the Town of Medfield website.
