Fatal I-10 Big-Rig Pileup Shuts All Eastbound Lanes In Blythe

BLYTHE, CA — One person was killed and one person with major injuries was taken by helicopter to a hospital Monday morning after a collision involving two big rigs and a pickup on the 10 Freeway west of Blythe. The crash was reported at 2:07 a.m. on the eastbound 10 Freeway east of Wiley's Well Road, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department. At least one of the big rigs flipped onto its side during the crash and wreckage blocked all eastbound lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, fire officials said. They did not specify from which vehicle that person came. Caltrans was summoned to the scene to set up barricades to block the eastbound 10.
