LA GRANGE, IL — La Grange's weekly increase in coronavirus cases has stabilized in the last month, according to the Cook County Public Health Department. As of Sunday, La Grange, including La Grange Highlands, had seen 2,579 coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic, 22 more than the previous week. The week before last, La Grange also experienced 22 new cases. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, the local number of recorded coronavirus-related deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 36. The latest deaths were Sept. 17, Sept. 14, May 24, May 22, May 14 and Feb. 13. All the local deaths have been those who were over 50, according to the medical examiner. The mortality rate among La Grange cases is 1.4 percent. About a tenth of 1 percent of the local population has died from the virus.
