JOLIET, IL — Sean Watson, a 23-year-old Hazel Crest resident, was given a 13-year prison term late last week by Will County Judge Amy Bertani-Tomczak for Watson's role in a 2019-armed robbery of an AT&T store on Joliet's West Jefferson Street, Will County State's Attorney Jim Glasgow announced.
Watson and another man had entered the AT&T carrying handguns the evening of Feb. 16, 2019, and stole cell phones from the store, prosecutors said. The two were arrested in Chicago Heights after they fled the store and were tracked with the assistance of a helicopter unit from another law enforcement agency.
Joliet Patch reported on the crime right after it happened. Watson was on parole at the time in connection with a previous conviction for having a stolen vehicle in Cook County.

"We are seeing armed robberies, carjackings, and other crimes throughout the region committed by individuals who do not live in Will County," Glasgow said in his news release. "We will continue to send the clear message to individuals who enter our communities for the purpose of committing crimes that, here in Will County, we put criminals who endanger the safety of our residents and business community behind bars."
Watson will receive credit for 970 days already served in the Will County Jail, prosecutors pointed out.
