Here are the top stories in Raleigh today: Police were led on a chase that started at the intersection of Tryon Road and Gorman Street, and led them to Kildaire Farm Road in Cary. Morteza Zakeri stole a vehicle from the parking lot of a convenience store with a 14-year-old girl still inside it. He now faces charges of first-degree kidnapping, felony flee/elude arrest with a motor vehicle, and larceny of a motor vehicle. (abc11)Wake County EMS leaders are calling for increased pay for EMS workers to combat the staffing shortage amidst record-setting call numbers. Not only is the county seeing a decrease in paramedic applicants, but they are also seeing more competition from non-EMS employers looking for emergency credentials and certification. (CBS17) Wake County is also developing a Nurse Navigation line to handle 911 calls that don't need critical care and will also help train high school students to become paramedics. (WRAL)Superior Court Judge David Lee scheduled a court hearing for Monday in the Leandro school funding case. Judge Lee wants an update on why the funding roadmap he endorsed has not been carried out as of yet. Lee expressed last month that he was prepared to issue "judicial remedies" if he hadn't seen action, but GOP lawmakers disagree with Lee forcing the General Assembly to spend certain levels of money. (Spectrum News 1)New details have been released surrounding the fatal accidents on Sunday. The single-car SUV accident that involved a vehicle on Capital Boulevard crashing into a bridge, killed five passengers that were in the vehicle. (WSOC-TV) The accident that led to the death of Officer Ryan Andrew Hayworth and put Officer Cody A. Hagler and Michael Routh Melugin in the hospital, was caused by Dedric Romero Privette. Privette is also in the hospital, and officers believe that alcohol impairment is a factor in the incident. (WXII12)North Carolina Rep. David Price of the Fourth District has announced that he will be retiring at the end of his current term. The congressman was first elected in 1987, and will serve until December 2022.
