WHITE PLAINS, NY — A White Plains woman admitted she tried to drown her 2-year-old son.
Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah said Monday that La'Quanaya Ward, 30, of White Plains, pleaded guilty Thursday to second-degree attempted murder, a felony.
She faces a sentence range from a minimum of five years to a maximum of 25 years in state prison.
Prosecutors said, on Dec. 3, 2019, Ward tried to drown her son in her bathtub at the Coachman Family Center in White Plains, where she was a resident.
She had been making verbal and online threats and was stopped by another resident who forced her out of the bathroom, allowing the child to come up for air.
