Description
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — Autumn is here and with it, Rockville Centre is holding its fall hydrant flushing.
The village's Water Department will clean the system overnights from Oct. 20 to Oct. 26.
While the work could cause a reduction in water pressure and/or discolored (rusty) water flowing into homes or businesses, the water remains safe to drink, the village said on its website.
However, the discoloration could stain laundry, so they advise not to schedule any projects where clean water is required.
Flushing Schedule:
Wed., Oct. 20: Midnight to 8 a.m. Area north of DeMott Avenue
Thurs., Oct. 21: Midnight to 8 a.m. Area between Lakeview Avenue and DeMott Avenue, west of Long Beach Road
Fri., Oct. 22: Midnight to 8 a.m. Area between Sunrise Highway and DeMott Avenue, east of Long Beach Road
Mon., Oct. 25: Midnight to 8 a.m.Entire area from Lakeview Avenue to Merrick Road
Tues., Oct. 26: Midnight to 8 a.m.Entire area south of Merrick Road
