Hello, people of Atlanta! Kathy Cioffi here with your Tuesday issue of the Atlanta Daily. First, today's weather: Nice with plenty of sunshine. High: 75 Low: 53. Here are the top stories in Atlanta today: Nathalie Stutzmann is making her-story by becoming the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's next music director. She will be the first woman to serve as the ASO's leader and only the second woman to lead a major American orchestra after Baltimore's Marin Alsop. Stutzmann currently serves in two positions, working as principal guest conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra and chief conductor of Norway's Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra. The ASO's has had only four previous music directors: Henry Sopkin, Robert Shaw, Yoel Levi and Robert Spano. (WSB Atlanta)Street racing clogged four lanes of Peachtree Street North Bridge early Sunday morning. Dozens gathered as motorists spun their cars in circles, blocking all lanes for more than an hour. While Atlanta Police Department officials were not available for an interview, they put out a Tweet Sunday afternoon, sending a warning to street racers and saying APD does not have a problem making arrests or impounding cars. Latoya Hodge lives in the apartment complex right next to the bridge. "I heard a lot of commotion," she recalled. "You could hear muzzling cars and the screeching of wheels. Very loud."
