General Functions This position is responsible for accounting/bookkeeping activities for the grants and fixed assets as assigned within the Finance/Accounting Department including, but not limited to: general ledger reconciliations, project cost sub-ledger reconciliations, journal entries, cash receipts, bank reconciliations, fixed asset inventory, grant reconciliations & reporting, financial reporting, and audit preparation for various companies. Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities) Processes monthly journal entries Reconciles general ledger accounts Reconciles sub-ledgers to the general ledger Reconciles grant revenue Prepares reporting for granting agencies Coordinate with managers and or department personnel as needed to ensure all necessary information is gathered to effectively account for grant funds. Assists in maintaining and updating financial procedures as needed Maintain databases Performs data entry Assists in audit preparation for multiple companies Assists in month end and year end activities to insure accurate financial reporting Performs fixed asset inventory Performs other related duties as assigned Skills and Abilities Knowledge of and experience related to the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act (NAHASDA) preferred. Experienced in all aspects of general bookkeeping Ability to simultaneously manage multiple assignments Self-starter with ability to solve problems with minimal direction/supervision Ability to work in deadline-driven environments Experience working with MS Office products with emphasis in Excel and Word Experience working with automated accounting software packages Experience working with MS Dynamics Great Plains preferred Ability to type 40 words a minute and to operate 10-key by touch Strong interpersonal communication and organization skills Technical ability to read and decipher grant language Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with major course work in accounting, or closely related field or experience may be substituted for college on a year-for-year basis.
