Description
I am organizing a year round organic vegetable co-op and a seeking five people to start cold crops in the greenhouses. You will have input on projects and be valued as a team member. Kale, beets, cilantro, cabbage, beans, lettuces, arugula, spinach, green onions name some of what can produce in greenhouses with little to no additional heat throughout winter. You will receive produce, seed, plants or other farm goods in exchange for volunteer time depending on what is seasonally available. Produce is still coming from my summer crops and we will be extending this season by covering some areas. Current available produce: (hot and sweet peppers, tomatoes, kale, winter squash, pumpkins).Everything on the farm is grown organically. No experience necessary! There are tasks requiring all skill levels and you would be learning organic and sustainable farming techniques and practices from experienced farmers. There will initially be a minimum of one day per week for four hours required volunteer time. More time available if desired. Starting seed, preparing greenhouses, feeding and watering plants, staffing farm stand and farm stand greenhouse and composting are some examples of chores. During spring this will expand to include outdoor crops as well. We will also be starting vegetable plants in the spring for sale in the farm stand greenhouse. Volunteer time will receive vegetable plants in exchange. This CSA initiative is located on a farmstead. There are also cows, goats, A variety of birds and other animals around. Farm chores can also be done in exchange for other food items from the farm. If you wish to volunteer in the henhouse, you may receive eggs in return. If you wish to volunteer with the cows, you may receive raw milk and steaks in return or choose other food items from the farm. Whatever is your pleasure! My goal is is to provide access to organic, local food to people in the community at no cost while also teaching valuable farming skills to put into practice at home and share with others. Preserving the harvests is another large part of our operations. If you are interesting in learning food preservation techniques such as canning, dehydrating, brining, etc. there are volunteer opportunities there as well! Those who control the food control the people. Take back your food independence now!! www.patriothillfarm.com
