Description

Second Annual Winter Coat Drive benefiting Brown Hope and the Black Resilience Fund Halloween can be scary but what’s SUPER scary is not having a warm winter coat or clothing when it’s getting cold outside! Please join us Saturday October 30th from 10am-1pm for our winter coat and cold weather clothing drive! This is a benefit for Brown Hope and the Black Resilience Fund. We are asking for any “new or gently used” coats or cold weather clothing you're not needing. Please drop them off at Irving Park from 10am-1pm. All donations will be put into care packages and delivered to people in need. Because right now, there are many people in our community who would really appreciate those warm coats and clothing. We are also encouraging COSTUMES! We will be making photos of you and whatever ghoulish, funny or scary Halloween costume you come dressed in that day. No tricks, just treats! We are also wanting to make sure we all practice safe covid19 behavior. Everyone must wear face masks and practice social distancing. Thank you for caring about your community! Brown Hope is a community solution that was conceived in March 2018. It was born from a deep sense of urgency to address how the long history of racism has assailed Black, Brown, and Indigenous people in Portland. These inequities manifest in various ways, including disparate health outcomes, extreme poverty, mass incarceration, and lack of political representation. Black Resilience Fund is an emergency fund dedicated to healing and resilience by providing immediate resources to Black Portlanders. Since its launch on June 1, 2020, the Black Resilience Fund has raised over $1,600,000 and funded over $950,000 in immediate financial relief to Black Portlanders. You can make a tax deductible donation to the Black Resilience Fund here: https://secure.givelively.org/.../black-resilience-fund For more information about the fund, visit the website blackresiliencefund.com If you don't have any coats to donate but would like to still give we are accepting donations via amazon.
