BUWG annual newcomers lunch, hosted by honorary president Dr. Beverly Brown, with a talk by Dr. Judy Platt. 11:30am: Socializing and Networking – light refreshments served outside prior to seating inside at 11:45am. Please note; we request that no food be taken inside the home. Bagged "To go" lunches will be offered to guests following Dr. Platt's talk. Suggested attire: business casual with lawn-friendly shoes and layers to protect against cold 12: 00 pm Talk: Hindsight is 2020: Lessons Learned Navigating a Pandemic, with Dr. Judy Platt Dr. Judy Platt was appointed Director of Student Health Services at Boston University in 2015 and recently promoted to the Chief Health Officer and Executive Director of Student Health Services in September of this year. Boston University’s Student Health Services has an integrated structure and is comprised of Primary Care, Behavioral Medicine, Sexual Assault Response & Awareness, Wellness & Prevention Services and Athletic Training Services. The Student Health Services Organization consists of 100 employees from five clinical and two administrative departments. In addition to overseeing Student Health Services Dr. Platt also serves as a university representative for health-related matters on campus and is actively involved with many committees and groups on campus. She is the Chair of the Medical Advisory Group, Co-Chair of the Vaccine Preparedness Group and a member of the Community Health Oversight Group. She is also the Co-Chair of the Student Health Insurance Plan Committee. Prior to joining Boston University, she served as the Director of Maternity Care for the Tufts Family Medicine Residency. She practiced full-spectrum family medicine including inpatient hospital care while teaching residents and medical students. As a faculty member she developed curriculum in the areas of Women’s Health and Maternity Care. Dr. Platt completed her residency in Family and Community Medicine at Albany Medical Center, serving as chief resident in her final year. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and received her BS in Biology and Philosophy from the University of Scranton in northeastern Pennsylvania.
