Description
Beautiful German Shepherd needs a home. He is neutered, has his shots, etc. Extremely sweet and intelligent. He is not sweet towards young children (under 12 or so) or ANY other animals. He will bark, lunge, and growl at these as well as cars whizzing past while walking. On the other hand, when these triggers are not around, you'd hardly believe it were possible. This medium/low energy, attentive dog will follow you around and lay near wherever you are. He will respect your boundaries such as not being on furniture, or in a particular bedroom, etc. He doesn't chew or dig. He's gorgeous. Would never think of stealing food from your plate/table. I do not know what his energy is like if he is not walked twice daily and given strong leadership, which we have done from day 1 with him. He is a rescue who did not have a good puppy hood. He needs an alternative, healthy protein food where the #1 ingredient is salmon or venison, anything but beef/chicken, or he gets itchy. Very responsive to treats of course. Barks a bit when cars/people approach the house.
He is not kennel trained and this will be an issue immediately for anyone who works outside the home. I believe he can be trained, but he kept escaping the kennel we put him in. When we've had to all leave home at the same time (twice weekly at most), we've tied him up outside and it's been fine.
He is fine with *our* children, but any of their friends, cousins, etc., or our cats... absolutely no go. If you are willing to put in the work and give this dog major leadership in an environment without other creatures or young kids, you've just found the perfect dog. $80
