TAMPA, FL — Tampa firefighters rescued a resident in a wheelchair Saturday morning after a child accidentally set fire to the family's home in Sulphur Springs. Fire crews were called at 10:49 to a fire at a single-story duplex in the 8000 block of North 18th Street and found smoke and flames coming from the home. Firefighters were told a resident in a wheelchair was still inside. Firefighters rescued the resident and provided medical aid, however, the resident refused to be taken to the hospital. The fire was under control by about 11 a.m. The Tampa fire investigator determined the fire was started by a young child playing with fire. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the family that lost their home.
