CONCORD, NH — A motorcyclist died during a crash in Unity on Saturday, according to New Hampshire State Police. The motorcyclist, whose identity is being held due to next of kin notification, crashed on the 2nd NH Turnpike at just before 5 p.m. The rider "sustained serious injuries and died on-scene," according to Lt. Michael Kokoski of Troop C. "Preliminary investigation indicates the operator of the motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway," he added. "It is believed that speed was a contributing factor. There were no other persons or vehicles involved in this crash." Unity firefighters and Golden Cross Ambulance assisted state police at the accident scene. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Trooper Eric Fosterling via Troop C dispatch at 603-223-8494, or by email at [email protected]. Miss NH Will No Longer Wear Fur Following pressure by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, NH Citizens Against Recreational Trapping, and other orgs, the Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Program will no longer award winners with fur coats. The organizations had been working for a number of years to try and stop the practice. "No kind pageant winner wants to celebrate her new title by having dead animals draped around her shoulders," PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman said. "PETA is celebrating Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Program's humane makeover, which empowers women to listen to their conscience and reject cruelty." AG Criticizes IRS Bank Tracking Proposal New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella joined 19 other attorney generals across the United States, sending a letter to President Joe Biden and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, denouncing a proposal to have the Internal Revenue Service track every bank, credit union, and financial institution account with more than $600 in assets and more than $600 in transactions. The letter, linked here in PDF format, called the proposal "a burdensome Big Brother-mandate" that stands in "opposition of privacy that Americans are entitled to and deserve." The letter added that the IRS rifling through almost every bank account in the country, "without cause, or even suspicion, is unacceptable, illegal and contrary to the well-founded constitutional principles against illegal searches and seizures."
