Here are the top stories in Raleigh today: A gas leak near the intersection of Tryon Road and Ashville Avenue by WakeMed in Cary caused a road closure and restaurant evacuation. The traffic closure impacted one entrance to the hospital with crews from Dominion Energy on the scene. The gas leak was related to road constriction according to officials. (WRAL) Police are investigating an overnight shooting that happened inside a Quality Inn hotel room on New Bern Ave. The victim was a male who sustained non life-threatening injuries. The shooting occurred after an altercation in the hotel room, and officials are searching for the suspect. (WRAL) Raleigh travel has increased due to tourism, with thousands of visitors coming to Raleigh for major events. Experts say that the city will still not reach pre-pandemic tourism levels until business travelers return. With the event traffic, food and beverage tax revenue is up 36% from last year, and hotel occupancy is up 48%. (CBS17) A group of Wake County residents organized a 'Gentrification Caravan' to draw attention to the lack of affordable housing in the area. The Wake County Housing Justice Coalition organized the event amidst Raleigh's consistent growth putting pressure on affordable housing. (Spectrum News 1) Wake County has released a map of the proposed district changes that would divide the county into seven districts. The county's population has increased 25% over the past decade with approximately 228,000 more people living in the area.
