Audicity I NEED HELP!

If you record with Audacity, and can navigate it very well, well I need some help, because I'm running into problems.... When I create new tracks, trying to multitrack (like bass and drums), like recording on one track bass and the other track drums, Audacity doesn't let me. It always goes to the end of the track, and I can't understand this BS!!!! Any help is appreciated and am willing to pay for your help!!!! John
