Start a food biz in a Pandemic? Yes, really. More people have decided to take matters into their own hands and turn a hobby/passion into a business. Who better to do that than YOU. Be your own boss. First of all, you know you have a delicious treat that you have been giving to friends and family? Have you wondered if there is a way to cook, package, and sell your treats from your own home without having the expenses and risk of opening a shop? Well, you are in luck. Now that California has passed the California Homemade Food Act (AB1616), you can legally sell food from your own home kitchen. There are certain limitations. You could spend time searching the internet or save yourself time & frustration by taking what I have learned in my 8 years of experience as a CFO. This four part class is a valuable time saver. So bring a pen, paper, a positive attitude, and be ready to take notes. No business experience needed. Each class will have a different focus. Because we are all at different parts of building a business. Don't reinvent the wheel. Learn from someone who has boomed to 24 wholesale accounts, walked away from Whole Foods and Shark tank, and has a heart for teaching others what to do and not do in this process. Part 1- This Info class will take you through all of the steps to obtain your Cottage Food Operator (CFO) permit. We will review what you can sell, which type of permit you will need as well as provide you with the majority of the info you will need to file in LA County. We will review label samples and discuss what information needs to be included on your labels. Each county health dept will have slight variations, but the general info will be the same. Since this class is virtual, anyone in any county can join the class. Optional-Separate Sign up & Payment Required for Part 2-4- A follow up session where you go do the homework of applying what you learned. Bring your labels and I’ll check them over for you. Date will be determined during session one. You will also learn how to build a brand, market your products, and gain a fan club.
